Horse/ bunny/ heart sweater done!

I finished my horse sweater! I decided to go all whimsical and playful  and added bunnies and hearts around the collar and some gingerbread trimmings along sleeves and neck opening.  I am very satisfied with the end result and will definitely be wearing this warm luxury Alpaca and wool sweater during the coming cold winter.

On the backside of the sweater I added a little bow on one of the horses, always fun with some unexpected detail.

Primadonnas horse

I am knitting this horse sweater inspired by Tove Janssons flower horses. The horses look a little chubby but it kind of fits its sympathetic character. I was considering turning them into cows at one point when they were far from resembeling horses, but with some adjustments while knitting I think I got them to look like horses.

I am using different alpaca and wool yarns in violet, blue and lilac colors.

Illustration from Tove jansson Who will comfort Toffle?. I think I will emdroider some details onto the horses once the whole sweater is finished, maybe some flowers and eyes and the red ribbon  around the neck.

Winter wonderfulness in knitted lace mittens, a sweater and a green wool coat

I knitted these lace mittens with Drops Alpaca in raspeberry red. I used 3 mm needles, the lace motif on the upper side of the mittens are the same as in the Audrey cardigan, I really like the small bobbles. I think the mittens are too chilly to wear as such and I am knitting simple mittens in stocking stitch in Drops Alpaca light camel to wear with them underneath.

Knitted Sweater

I chose a very classic motif for this knitted wool sweater, the colours are quite demanding so I felt it was best to keep the style quite simple. I used Cascade Heather Birch and Pacific, the darker petrol is Drops Alpaca Mix turquois/blue and the undyed natural wool yarn is Aholaidan Suomenlampaan villaa. The sweater was knitted in the round on circular needles 5mm and 4mm.

The pattern for this sweater can be found on Ravelry

A Green Wool Coat

I always have trouble finding a nice winter jacket (I am not a big fan of black) so I decided to make my own. I used wool fabric in green for the outside and for the inner lining raspeberry red wool fabric and a fleece layer in between to make it extra warm. i took the pattern from an old Burda magazine, the pattern was for a classic duffle coat but I altered it a bit. It was really fun to make and think about all the details, I knew I wanted big pockets and a big hood. The whole thing took about a week to make.

I wanted to make some emroidered details and chose wool yarns in different red shades. The fabric is quite dense so it was a bit tricky to det the needle through, took some time but I am happy with the result!

I found the perfect coloured buttons in the handicraft paradise Karnaluks in Tallinn, they are a bit kitschy but I like that it doesn´t get too serious.

The big hood was an absolute must and I sew some fake fur for extra softness around the edge.

Knitting adventures await!

I haven't felt so inspired to knit the last few weeks, which is unusual. I have at least three, no four, projects that I have started but then kind of lost the enthusiasm. But today I saw a cardigan that I immediately knew I would have to knit for myself. And I WILL finish it before starting any other projects! ...or at least I will try very very hard...

Pattern for Audrey cardigan

The pattern for the Audrey cardigan is available to download in my Ravelry store, you can also get it
online here. The pattern is in English. I have more pictures of the cardigan in a blog post from a few days ago.
This is one of my favourite patterns,
happy knitting!

Introducing Yarn Inspiration

I have A LOT of yarn in my stash and a million different projects in my head just waiting to come true. I think one of the best things with knitting is trying out different colour combinations.

The yarns in the picture are Cascade 220 and Garnstudio Drops Alpaca.

A cardigan named Audrey

The Audrey cardigan is knitted with Garnstudio Drops Nepal and Andes both in cream white. I used some lace knitting stitches by Hitomi Shida from the book Knitting Patterns Book 250, but the design and pattern for the cardigan is by me. My sister is wearing the cardigan in the beautiful landscapes of Algarve.

The sleeves and and neckline have a trimming consisting of a purl edging and bobbles.

The buttons and the edges are crocheted using the Andes yarn which is more bulky than Nepal.

The backside of the cardigan is very decorative with the intricate lace knitting pattern. I find that it is best to use lighter colours when knitting lace so that the shapes and structures become more visible.

A frog hopped into the pool while I was taking photos!

Knitting a cardigan with lace

I am currently knitting a cardigan with intricate lace. I found the stitch pattern through a great site with many different lace stitches: www.laceknittingstitch.blogspot.com
The ones I chose to use are from the book Knitting Patterns Book 250 by Hitomi Shida (lace knitting stitch #14 and #49).

Backside of the cardigan.
.
Yarn used is Garnstudio Drops Nepal, I am knitting with 4 mm so that the lace doesn't become too lose.

For the sleeves I added a strand of bobbles to make it more interesting.

The pattern for this cardigan is from my own imagination, this time with flowers and once again crocheted buttons. I used Garnstudio Drops yarns, Nepal in green and violet, Alpaca in dark red, the pink yarn is from Hopeasäie Aada. The cardigan is extrasoft and warm, perfect for chilly summer evenings!

Ännu för några dagar sedan var det bara garnnystan... alltid lika roligt när något blir färdigt och man får se hur ens idéer blir till liv!
